Our Midwives & Staff

Binta Niang, LM, MSM, Owner

Born and raised on the African continent, I am a West African descendent from Mali, a wife and a mother. My path to midwifery started in childhood, driving by curiosity and my desire to learn and educate my friends/community. I was surrounded by strong women growing up, and I am grateful to have had access to education. My father gave me my first book in middle school, and it really opened up my perspective on the outside world.

I graduated in high school with a bachelor in Biological Science, and I was a medical student prior to migrating to the USA.

In 2017, I earned my master's degree in Midwifery at the Bastyr University in Washington State and presented my thesis- Syphilis Testing & Treatment in Antenatal Care: Providing Continuing Education for Midwives in Mali.

Following graduation, I had the grace privilege to work with many community midwives in Seattle, to work with non-profit organizations serving immigrant and refugees families, and to work at Journey Midwife Services (Seattle Birth Center).

I am a Licensed Midwife (LM) in Washington State, fluent in French and Bambara. I am so grateful to be part of your care. I believe every birthing person deserves kindness unconditionally; as well as safe, affordable and reliable care.

Families seek care providers who bring with them their values, culture, customs, strengths and empowerment. I seek to help the families explore opportunities to reach these goals.

Outside Midwifery, I enjoy date nights with family, traveling, meal prep and sharing with friends and families.
